Best of Heritage -- Life Tribute

Aren't we all about stories? Here is a fantastic story that won our Best of Heritage -- Life Tribute category this year. This was also the catalyst that caused Heritage Makers to join together with the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep organization. We can now work together with the photographers that serve these families and offer an 8x8 book and our service as consultants. Watch this if you can--it is a great story.

Using Story to Build Bridges

Over the past few months Heritage Makers has defined four cornerstone books.  These are the most important types of books you can write, and really are an ideal place to begin your storytelling journey. They are the books that really define who you are.  With that being said... you can still put any type of story into a heritage makers book! 

Here is a possible story outline for a Child's Cornerstone Book.

ps--One thing I look for when I see any template book is whether or not I can easily change it to fit my own story because I know that with a press of a button (ctrl)  I can drag any paper, embellishment, or picture into the place of what was there.  It will take on the exact formatting! This is one of my very favorite things about the HM Studio.  I have never seen any other design program that has that ability, and it's awesome!

Connections

This weekend I worked a booth one day for the Bridal Expo.  What a great show it was.  I love my job.  I just love talking to people and having a product that helps and inspires them.  And I love the stories that I hear...

Anyway, there I was at the booth, when a bride to be came up to me and we start talking about Heritage Makers.  I noticed that her necklace was leather with a small wood carving of an eagle on the bottom.  It reminded me of a necklace that my husband gave me soon after we were engaged, only mine had a ancient, native-american bead that was a little bird.   

I opened up my first book that I made, that was our love story and flipped to the page where it shows the moccasins that my husband made for me to wear on our wedding day.  This bride went away ready to make her wedding books with Heritage Makers, and also to ask her husband-to-be for a pair of moccasins...

I love the connections that come with this business, and the power of story.

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about a book that this lady, quoted above, wrote.  It made quite an impact on me, and I have meant to post about it.  I will make sure to do that within the next few weeks. 

I wanted to share a new template collection that Heritage Makers has created.  These by far are my favorite of yet because of one reason.  The focus is on not just pictures and little bits of text along with it.  It is about the STORY!  It goes right along with our mission of storybooking and preserving our stories and pictures for a lifetime.
